Club Requirements

Member Obligations:

  1. Attend meetings

    • 3 absences limited to school-related activities allowed, must be excused

  2. Earn a minimum of 25 hours through participation in club activities. 10 of these hours must be through a health related facility. If you participate in a community service project, you will also be awarded student service hours that can be used to meet your graduation requirement.

  3. Pay annual dues, field trip fees, and project fees on time. 

  4. Participate in HOSA competitions at the regional level (state and national levels if qualified).

  5. Exhibit good character and have a school record free of disciplinary action.

  6. Actively participate in the Health Fair preparation committee of your choice. 

  7. Attend at least one guest lecture during the year.

 

General Meetings:

1. General meetings are held whenever stated on the calendar so please check the calendar frequently. This is non-inclusive of committee meetings that are mandatory for members to remain active in the club. 

2. A student will receive an hour for each entire general meeting he/she attends.  A student who does not attend or who leaves early for another extracurricular event will not receive credit.

3. A student will attain hours for each committee meeting he/she attends. On the sign in sheet, members MUST write their sign in and sign out time to be awarded the appropriate amount of club hours. 

4. A student who misses more than three general meetings (excused or unexcused) will be placed on probation and possibly be ineligible for a HOSA cord at graduation.

 

Graduation Recognition:

HOSA Cords:  Senior members in good standing are eligible for a HOSA honor cord. To receive an honor cord, a student must:

  1. Attain 3.5 or greater unweighted GPA in Health Science Classes

  2. Complete 30 participation hours for each year he/she is in HOSA. 15 of these hours must be earned through a health related facility.

  3. Complete 80 community service hours by graduation.

  4. Attend all general meetings with the exception of one per semester.

  5. Participate in at least 2 HOSA fundraising events and 2 community service events during senior year.

  6. Participate in a HOSA Regional Competitive Event.

  7. Participate in Health fair through the committees.

  8. Attend two guest lectures

  9. Satisfy the terms to be removed from member probation (if applicable).

  10. Be free of obligations.
